Park projects are generally initiated by the Willamalane Parks and Recreation District, or <br />by the Springfield School District if it is a neighborhood park on school property. Only <br />parks whose service area is City of Springfield <br />primarily Iow-income are )merit Block Grant Elk <br /> <br />eligible for CDBG <br />investment. Since the <br />Consolidated Plan 2000 was <br />published, improvements <br />were made to Yolanda <br />playground, Pride Park, <br />Brattain School playground, <br />and Meadow Park. Park <br />improvements provide for <br />greater and more varied <br />recreation opportunities, <br />improved comfort, and safety <br />for the park's users, and, as <br />in the case of the Meadow <br />Park lighting project, may <br />also allow for extended hours <br />of use. <br /> <br />~ Spdngfie!d UGB ~ Eugene UGB <br /> <br />~ Eligible Census Tracts ~ Eligible Census Block Groups <br /> $0~.~¢~e Ec'UD Low Modera,Ce <br /> <br />Community facilities is a broad category encompassing such projects as childcare <br />centers, neighborhood resources centers, soup kitchens and food rooms, health clinics, <br />and other facilities that address the needs of lower income persons.
