Mr. Sa u 1 sa i d <br /> that, while the Metropolitan Plan does contain some emphasis on the importance <br /> of industrial land, it also includes within the same sentences or paragraphs <br /> the importance of commercial properties. He said that the councilors must be <br /> aware that the current inventory of property within the city limits with available <br /> services and zoned for industrial use overshadows any inventory of commercially <br /> designated property. <br /> Mr. Lindberg moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to approve the appeal. <br /> The motion passed 4:1; Councilors Ball, Hansen, Lindberg, and Smith <br /> voting aye; Councilor Wooten voting nay. <br /> Mr. Gleason said that policy requires the council to set a joint meeting with <br /> the Planning Commission when it takes an action in conflict to the commission. <br /> Mr. Gleason said that a date for the meeting would be set. <br /> II I. RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE LANE COUNTY LIBRARY LEVY (memo, resol ution <br /> attached) <br />e Mr. Gleason introduced the agenda item. He said that Ms. Wooten would be <br /> addressing the issue and that Mr. Meeks, Library, was present to answer any <br /> questions from the council. <br /> Ms. Wooten said that she is concerned with the library levy that will be before <br /> the Lane County, Eugene, and Springfield voters on September 20, 1983. She sai d <br /> that she feels it would be appropriate for the council to adopt a resolution <br /> addressing the seriousness of the matter and the implication of the services for <br /> the City of Eugene and the services for Lane County residents. Ms. Woo ten the n <br /> read the resolution which urges all citizens of the City of Eugene to vote in <br /> support of the levy. She said the Friends of the Library and the Library Board <br /> have passed similar resolutions. She said that the passage of the levy would <br /> maintain, and possibly improve, the Bookmobile program, as well as increase <br /> library hours and restore some of the positions cut by the Eugene Budget Committee <br /> during the last fiscal year. <br /> Res.
