<br /> M I NUT E S <br />e Eu g en e City Co u nc i 1 <br /> Ci ty Council Chamber <br /> October 26, 1983 <br /> 11:45 a.m. <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Bmily Schue, Brian Obie, John Ball, Dick Hansen (until <br /> 1:15), Freeman Holmer, Mark Lindberg, Betty Smith, and <br /> Cynthi a Wooten. <br /> Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called <br /> to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> 1- ITEMS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> A. Report of Vi si t to K akegawa <br /> Councilor Holmer said he had just returned from Eugene's Sister City in Japan <br /> where he visited a coffee shop established by one of the earlier Kakegawan <br /> representatives to Eugene. He said the representative was deeply committed to <br /> the Sister City Program, as evidenced by the Eugene Chamber of Commerce logo <br /> di spl ayed at the coffee shop. Mr. Holmer said the Mayor of Kakegawa would be <br /> accompanying the next delegation to Eugene during the summer of 1984. <br />e B. Announcement Not to Seek Re-Election. <br /> Councilor Obie announced that he would not be seeking re-election to the City <br /> Council from Ward #8. He thanked those individuals who had supported him in the <br /> past. He said he had not made any decisions on any future plans for public <br /> office other than to commit himself to the economic revitalization of the <br /> communi ty. <br /> C. Appointment to Women's Commission <br /> Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Mr. Obie, that Patty Pate, 2098 <br /> Broadview, be appointed to the Women's Commission to complete the <br /> unexpired term of Linda Green ending January 1, 1985. Ro 11 call <br /> vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> D. Reballot for Planning Commission Appointment <br /> City Attorney Tim Sercombe said the reballoting was being performed because <br /> specific notice was not given of the special council meeting held prior to the <br /> council's regular meeting of October 12,1983, where the interviews and bal- <br /> loting for the Planning Commission occurred. He said it was staff's recom- <br /> mendation that the council ballot again in order to conform to the letter of the <br /> law. City Manager Micheal Gleason added that notice of the special meeting had <br /> been given at the September 28, 1983, City Council meeting. <br />e <br /> MINUTES--Eugene City Council October 26, 1983 Page 1 <br />
