e

e

e

X. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT (memo distributed)

City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the agenda item. Doug Eveleth, Business
Assistance Team, gave the staff report, explaining the Economic Development
District (EDD) concept. Designation of Lane County as a member of the existing
EDD, that includes Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Counties, would enable planning
grant funds and favorable grant ratio monies to come into the area. The
District 4 Council of Government administers the EDO. A letter signed by
the Mayor approving the concept of Lane County being a part of the EDD will be
transmitted to the Economic Development Administration officials for their
approval. He explained the benefits of belonging to the EDD in that about $1.7
million in grant funds has been disbursed to the existing EDD members. George
Kloeppel, Director of Lane Council of Governments, offered to answer any
questions.

Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, to approve a letter from
Mayor Keller to the Lane Council of Governments in support of Lane
County being included in the Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Economic
Development District. Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously,
6:0.

XI. UPDATE ON DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE CENTER (memo, background information
distributed)

City Manager Micheal Gleason suggested holding over the update on the Development
Assistance Center until the next council meeting. He encouraged those Councilors
who had time to tour the center after the meeting to do so. Individual tours
could also be arranged in the future. Councilor Hansen said that he had received
many positive comments about the center.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:40 p.m. to January 18, 1984.
Respectfully submitted,
~. ..... ../' _~'Lt;~/
- ,; Y' ...~'-;P;.r/ /t2:
"'.v ~~<~t.,;.A.oy.0C:V~ ...
v~... /' ' / - -~ ....

Micheal D.
