<br />e <br /> <br />Referring to the administrative and operational issues identified in the manage- <br />ment study on the Hult Center, Mr. Gleason stated that he was not ready to make <br />any decisions on the managerial issues at the present time due to the complexity <br />of the issues and the need for more input. He stated he would like to incorporate <br />the discussion at this meeting and discussions with additional individuals into <br />his final decisions. He then reviewed the issues as listed in Section I of the <br />Executive Summary. He stated that these issues were too numerous for him to <br />have reached any decisions in the five days since he received the report. <br />Mr. Gleason then recommended the following timetable for the involved groups as <br />indicated: <br /> <br />1. February 27-March 2: <br /> <br />Task force meets on February 29. <br />EPAC meets and discusses the report. <br /> <br />2. March 5-9: <br /> <br />Task force holds a public meeting. <br /> <br />Administrative work plan presented to the City <br />Council. <br />Task force meets as needed. <br /> <br />3. March 12-16: <br /> <br />4. April 2-6: <br /> <br />Special City Council meeting for recommendations <br />by the task force. <br /> <br />Mr. Gleason then introduced Chris Fredrickson, the consultant with Alexander <br />Grant & Company. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />IV. SUMARY OF HULT CENTER STUDY <br /> <br />Alexander Grant & Company consultant Chris Fredrickson summarized the process by <br />which the management study was performed, stating that over 100 interviews <br />were conducted. He hoped that all the constituencies were addressed in these <br />interviews. Mr. Fredrickson stated that at least five centers with similar <br />traits were visited, of which the five most similar were discussed in the report. <br />He stated that the calculations made and the alternatives reviewed were performed <br />with the focus of making the Hult Center operations more efficient and responsive <br />to the community. He stressed that the Hult Center was going through the normal <br />process and through the normal third-year transitional period for performing <br />arts centers. <br /> <br />Mr. Fredrickson stated that it is important for the council and commission to <br />understand the community context and policy issues involved. Referring to a <br />chart illustrating the funding of the Hult Center, he then reviewed how the <br />center is supported by donors and the general public. <br /> <br />Mr. Williams entered the meeting at this time. <br /> <br />Mr. Fredrickson stated that each group was making assumptions of the other <br />players, with one result being that the Hult Center was being left with unpaid <br />rent by its users.
