He said the serial <br />levy is built into the existing and proposed operating budget. Eugene's <br />share of the levy is $180,000. The levy seems a rational way for the whole <br />community to be part of the library. <br /> <br />Mr. Holmer suggested the following underlined words be added to Section 3 of <br />the resolution: <br /> <br />3. The Eugene Public Library requires levy funds to maintain and <br />improve bookmobile service to Eugene neighborhoods and nurs;ng <br />homes, to continue Sunday hours at the Library, to. . . <br /> <br />James Meeks, City Librarian, agreed with Mr. Holmer's suggested change. He <br />said the book budget will be improved and library hours will be extended if <br />the levy is passed. However, most of the money will be used to maintain <br />existing services. Passage of the levy is essential to the library. The <br />levy also helps Springfield and provides the only service in the county. <br /> <br />Res. Bracketed material should be deleted; under- <br />lined material should be added.
