e

RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION OF THE EUGENE CITY COUNCIL
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE PASSAGE OF BALLOT
MEASURE ONE AT THE MARCH 26, 1985 ELECTION

The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:

1. Ballot Measure One proposes a three-year special

county library serial levy.

2. Passage of the levy is necessary to maintain and

improve services offered by the Eugene Public Library.

3. The Eugene Public Library requires levy funds to

maintain bookmobile service to Eugene neighborhoods and nursing

homes, to continue Sunday hours at the Library, to provide

-

new books, collections of special materials such as tapes

and 'l~rge-print books, and courier service for fast delivery

of inter-library loan requests, and to sponsor programs for

children and adults.

4. Levy funds are also necessary to maintain rural

bookmobile service to eighteen communities in Lane County,

to ensure regular library hours in all communities, and to

allow the County-Creswell branch library to remain open.

5. The cost of the levy to the individual property

owner, 7~ cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation per year,

is small.

6. Defeat of Ballot Measure One would severely curtail

the library services which the City now provides to its citizens.

NOW, THEREFORE,

e

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE,

1 - Resolution
