This program would establish a
Eugene presence in Washington DC on a day-to-day basis. It could be expected
to provide Council and staff with up-to-date information on Federal issues of
interest to Eugene; lobby Federal elected and appointed officials on Eugene's
behalf; and arrange personal contacts between City officials and Federal
officials as appropriate;
This concept came before the Eugene Budget Committee in April 1985. At that ---
time the committee requested that further information be provided regarding e
specific types of programs, costs, and the experiences of other jurisdictions.
Late last month, the proposal was taken up by the Council's Legislative
Subcommittee, which reached a consensus to recommend conceptual approval
pending full Council discussion.
Additional information regarding this matter has been forwarded under separate
cover.
