Increased ethnic and racial diversity <br />Eugene has grown more ethnically diverse since 1990. Table 14 shows the <br />number of persons of Latino origin for Oregon, Lane County, and Eugene <br />for 1990, 2000, and 2011. In 2011, Eugene's population was 8.0% Latino, <br />compared with 7.6% of residents of Lane County and 12.0% of residents of <br />Oregon. <br />The Latino population grew faster in Eugene than in Lane County from <br />1990 to 2011. Eugene's Latino population grew by 310% between 1990 and <br />2011. During the same period, Lane County's Latino population grew by <br />293% and Oregon' Latino population grew by 314%. <br />Table 14. The <br />communities experiencing the largest increase in the Latino populations <br />were Springfield (5,895 people), Cottage Grove (612 people), Junction City <br />(410 people), and Creswell (325 people). <br />Eugene has also grown more racially diverse since 1990. Table 15 shows <br />the number of white, non-white, and Hispanic or Latino persons in <br />Oregon, Lane County, and Eugene for 1990 and 2011. In 2011,10% of <br />Eugene's population was non-white, not Hispanic, up from 6% of the <br />population in 1990.
