<br /> , <br /> ) <br /> u <br /> . <br /> November 14, 1985 e <br /> TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> FROM: Eugene Development Department ~(7~ <br /> SUBJECT: Riverfront Research Park Commission and Intergovernmental Agreement <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> As you know, the institutional arrangements for overseeing the development of <br /> the Riverfront Research Park are being revised from a nonprofit corporation to <br /> an intergovernmental commission. The revised arrangement will allow for in- <br /> creased opportunities for exchange between the City and the University of <br /> Oregon and for public involvement. <br /> COMMISSION <br /> The attached ordinance creates a seven-member Riverfront Research Park <br /> Commission, with four members selected by the President of the University of <br /> Oregon and appointed by the Mayor and three members nominated by the Mayor <br /> and appointed by the Council. The Commission is established to make recom- <br /> mendations to the City and the University in connection with the development <br /> of the Riverfront Research Park. e <br /> INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT <br /> Under separate cover, the Council received an executive summary of the <br /> Riverfront Research Park intergovernmental agreement prepared by the City <br /> Attorney. The summary outlines the basic provisions of the proposed agree- <br /> ment which have been reviewed and agreed to by both the City Manager and <br /> the University President. <br /> REQUESTED ACTION <br /> 1) Passage of ordinance to create Riverfront Research Park Commission and <br /> 2) authorization to the City Manager to enter into an intergovernmental <br /> agreement with the University of Oregon and the State Board of Higher <br /> Education to implement th~ commission and development of the Riverfront <br /> Research Park. <br /> ebcabrrp <br /> e <br />
