He added that compressed-air foam <br /> will aid in all fires, not just wildland fires. <br /> In response to a concern from Ms. Ehrman, Mr. Gleason said that if other areas <br /> request assistance from the City of Eugene, the compressed-air foam units <br /> would not be part of the assistance (unless Springfield is requesting assis- <br /> tance). <br /> Mr. Gleason emphasized that the public must be educated on the concept of fire <br /> perimeters, which are the areas around structures that must be kept clear of <br /> trees and other vegetation.
