Responding to a question from Mr. Green, Mr. Nuss said it costs approximately $2,500 to respond to the calls for fire/EMS during one firewo,"ks season. Responding to a question from,Ms. Ehrman, Mr. Nuss said there is currently no application fee for the sale of fireworks. Ms. Ehrman assumed that the City Manager would have the administrative power to implement such a fee. Mr. Gleason said such fees would be based on recovering the costs of issuing the licenses, not the costs of responding to calls for service. Responding to a question from Mr. Boles, Mr. Nuss explained that the 1991 State Building Code will contain a provision that would require certain standards for roofing material in the reroofing of homes located within any wildfire hazard area identified by a jurisdiction. CB 4427--An ordinance directing the City Manager to process technical code adoptions through the administrative rule process; repealing Sections 3.175, 3.179, 3.180, 3.181, 3.190, 3.192, 3.194, 3.196, 8.040, 8.050, 8.060, 8.070, 8.075, 8.100, and 8.895 of the Eugene Code, 1971; amend- ing Sections 3.005 of that code; and adding a new Section 8.010 to that code. Mr. MacDonald supported a complete ban on the sale and use of fireworks with an exception during the Fourth of July fireworks season.
