Motion carried unanimously. <br /> M. Tree Preservation Ordinance - Councilwoman Shirey asked for staff review and <br /> report on functioning of the tree preservation ordinance adopted in 1974. She <br /> felt review of any new legislation was necessary to determine its effectiveness, <br /> particularly this legislation because of several tree cutting incidents. Also, <br /> because "advertisement" of the ordinance through the review and report process <br /> would make the community as well as city staff people aware of its existence <br /> and its intent. She asked also that a copy of the report-be sent to members of <br /> the committee which developed the ordinance (John Breeden, Susan Franklin, <br /> George Jette, John Phillips, Edna Shirey, Tom Slocum, and Richard Unruh). <br /> Councilman Murray supported the request with the suggestion that it include a <br /> review and comment on the current status of the street tree program and ~hat COmIn <br /> plans there were for its expansion, if any. 6/11/75 <br /> Affirm <br /> It was understood the requested report would be brought to the Council <br /> in the next week or two, as soon as the Council's agenda would permit. <br /> Tree Preservation Ordinance - Councilwoman Beai reported complaints with regard <br />e to people cutting trees too large to fall entirely within ~heir own property. <br /> She wondered what protection the city could afford propert~es damaged by trees <br /> being felled from neighboring prope~ties, whether the city re~uired performance <br /> bonds from loggers or property owners doing that type of cutt~ng. <br /> 6/23/75 - 25 <br /> "3S$ <br />
