Resolution Proposing Creation of Multi-Agency Animal Control Authority <br />Proposed resolution has previously been distributed to Council. The Animal <br />Control Authority would consist of one council representative each from <br />Eugene and Springfield and one from the County Comrndssioners, with an <br />administrator hired to operate the system. The Springfield City Council <br />has agreed to go along with the proposals after considering changes made <br />by the task force. Staff recommends adopting the resolution and implementing <br />procedu.r~s iZDa3diately', <br /> <br />Success of the program depends on- the oPe-ration of joint facilities _ a <br />single pound location and animal control enforcement. <br /> <br />Mr. Keller moved seconded by Mr. Williams to adopt the <br />resolution. <br /> <br />Corom <br />1/28/76 <br />Approve <br /> <br />In answer to Mr. Keller's question on changes made by the task force, <br />Dave Jordan of that committee noted that the budget had been lowered <br />somewhat, the total now being $349,000. Mr. Keller requested that Council <br />be provided with an update report on the changes made. - <br /> <br />Vote was taken on the motion which carried unanimoUSly. <br /> <br />It was understood a council representative to the authority would <br />be appointed in ah?ut a week. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Robert Rose, 4530 Fox Hollow Road, asked for information about the program - whether <br />a private agency would operate it, cost breakdowns, anticipated equipment need, type <br />of personnel that would be employed, etc. He said he had been told the County's <br />computer facilities would be seriously affected if the dog control program was to <br />be entered.
