It would be appropriate <br />for Council to consider its position on the proposed facility. He and Mayor <br />Anderson both expressed support for the program. <br /> <br />Mrs. Beal m?ved seconded by Mr. Hamel that Council go on ,record <br />in support of the planning for the jail facility and in support <br />of the ballot measure. Friends of the Museum; $7,500 requested, $5,000 recommended <br /> <br />3. willamette Observer; $169.50 requested, denial recommended Approve <br />Mr. Fairchild said the fOC)ney was to go for materials for a one-person show and <br />the commi ttee fe1 t approval would set a precedent for allocating funds. <br /> <br />Susan Hereford, 640 W. 27th, pointed to the guidelines which state special <br />consideration will be given to those not previously funded. She explained her <br />show would consist of photographs of people in the community, therefore providing <br />a show of interest to all citizens. She explained the process that she would use <br />and mentioned a letter of support wri tten for the proj~ct. <br /> <br />Mr. Bradley left the committee meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Anderson comnentea that the Council and Room Tax Conmittee are being put <br />in a position of making value judgments on the exhibit. He feels that those <br />judgments should be made in advance by someone else; otherwise, they would be <br />besieged with requests from many individuals. His recomnendation would be that <br />Ms. Hereford contact an organization, such as Maude Kerns, and ask that they <br />submi t the application on her behalf. <br /> <br />_b.O _ _ <br />4. The recozrrnendation of the <br />Room Tax commi. ttee would allow them to conduct only two concerts, and he <br />feels that American concerts in the park would be most fitting in a <br />Bicentennial year. <br /> <br />Mr. Fairchild noted the reason for reduction is because there are other musical <br />grouplS appearing in the mall, parks, etc. and the commi ttee fel t each should <br />have some of the available funds. <br /> <br />4/26/76 -17 <br /> <br />23/ <br />
