<br /> Manager reviewed the bids as tabulated. Contract award was recommended to the low <br /> bidder - Landscape and Maintenance Service. <br />. Public hearing was held with no testimony presented. <br /> Mr. Keller moved second by Mr. Haws to award contract to the Land- <br /> scape and Maintenance Service on their low bid price of $7,723.71. <br /> Councilman Haws questioned whether this was the best use of $7700, whether there were <br /> more important projects. Manager explained that the Laurelwood course was a revenue <br /> producing facility and criticism of the course often related to the green proposed <br /> for reconstruction. Mayor Anderson likened the course to a major piece of equipment <br /> broken and in need of repairs - and Councilman Williams said it was the worse green <br /> in the U. S. and A. <br /> Rollcall vote was taken on the motion as stated. Approve <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> C.29th and Wil1amette Traffic and Other Nuisances - Reports were transmitted to <br /> Council September 15 regarding the problem of "dragging the gut" in that area. <br /> Mrs. Gayle Lecher, 2832 High, representing her immediate neighborhood, stressed <br /> how difficult the situation has been - not only with traffic and noise but <br /> also with broken bottles, and garbage. Large trucks often use High Street <br /> as a throughway as well, she said. She felt that attention shoo1d be given <br /> immediately to installation of yield or stop signs on High Street as none <br /> exists at present and she has observed dragsters traveling as fast as 60 mph <br /> on the street. <br /> Mayor Anderson emphasized that Council is aware of all the problems in the <br /> area, that they are interested in having ideas generated that will assist in <br /> a possible solution. <br /> James Weathers, owner of Webfoot Lanes, suggested making Willamette a one-way <br />- street during the heaviest dragging hours.
