Assistant manager re- <br /> sponded that staff will provide whatever it can, noting that security <br /> and privacy legislation precludes non-criminal justice agency people <br /> from reviewing certain facts. Mr. Bradley wondered if some other <br /> . body could be delegated to act as a hearings officer on appeals of <br /> this sort. Assistant Manage~ responded that it has been tradition <br /> to have such appeals come to the City Council. Law does not require <br /> that it be done that way, however. He suggested that staff could <br /> look into other options on future appeals. He noted ,that the <br /> appellant could always reapply if the process is changed. Mr. Haws <br /> requested that staff provide Council with criteria to be used in ( <br /> deciding on granting licenses of this type. <br /> I ( Vote was taken on the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> Com 12/15/76 IV. Southwest Hills Neighborhood Organization Charter--Proposed <br /> An~Tove charter has been distributed to Council members, along with <br /> December 1 letter from the secretary of the Southwest Hills <br /> Neighborhood Organization. <br /> Dewey Newman. 2040 Hawkins Lane, president of the association. <br /> mentioned the controversy that has arisen over the name of the <br /> , organization. The South Hills Neighborhood Organization has -e <br /> protested the use of the name Southwest Hills by the group due <br /> to possible confusion that could result. Mr. Newman said that <br /> the organization developed a name that would reflect their geo- <br /> graphical location.
