<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />"' <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br />EUGENE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 20, 1977 <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Eugene City Council was called to order by His Honor Mayor <br />Gus Keller at 4:00 p.m., in the McNutt Room at City Hall for the purpose of selecting <br />a Planning Commissioner to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Kenneth <br />Reeder. Council members present were Eric Haws, D. W. Hamel, Tom Williams, Ray <br />Bradley, Jack Delay, Scott Lieuallen, Brian Obie and Betty Smith. <br /> <br />Finalists interviewd for the position on the Planning Commission for the balance of <br />the term ending 1/1/81 were: <br /> <br />Sarah Weston, 2595 Highland <br />Robert Barkman, 2975 Garfield <br />Jose Nunez, 1026 Custer Court <br />David Povey, 2003 Columbia <br />David Bartels, 460 West 26th Avenue <br />Joe Olexa, 1708 Villard <br /> <br />The two questions asked finalists were: <br /> <br />1. What do you feel are the major planning issues facing Eugene? <br />2. What do you intend to do to assure that your decisions as a <br />Commissioner are in the best long-term interests of the community? <br /> <br />At the conclusion of interviews, the first ballot cast by each Council person <br />for two finalists resulted in Sarah Weston, Robert Barkman, and David Povey <br />being chosen (Barkman and Povey each receiving four votes, and Weston receiving <br />five votes). A second ballot of the three finalists resulted in a tie, with <br />the following ballots cast: <br /> <br />For Mr. Barkman: <br />For Ms. Weston: <br /> <br />Obie, Williams, Smith, Hamel <br />Bradley, Lieuallen, Delay, and Haws <br /> <br />Mayor Keller broke the tie by voting for Mr. Barkman, who was declared the <br />Planning Commissioner to fill the vacancy. <br /> <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />c~e2~ <br /> <br />City Manager <br /> <br />..317 <br />
