Supplemental funding requests of Lane County Home Repair Program-- <br />Memo, letter, and HCC report distributed to Council. Manager re- <br />ported the Joint Housing Committee was requesting Council recom- <br />mendation for use of $6,000 of general revenue sharing funds for <br />housing from the 1976-77 fiscal year be granted to Lane County <br />to continue the home repair program until funds would be avail- <br />able from the 1977-78 Community Development Block Grant program <br />probably in July or August. <br /> <br />Mr. Haws moved, seconded by Mr. Delay, that the request for <br />$6,000 be taken from the general revenue sharing account and <br />be designated for housing assistance and appropriated for <br />this program. Palace Hotel--Memo, letter, accounting data distributed to Council. <br />~mnager reviewed information for Council, noting the request was <br />for funding from the City while the Pala~e Hotel owners look for <br />funding from other sources. Re said the Joint Housing Committee <br />was recommending to City Council that the operating contingency <br />account be replenished in an amount not to exceed the average <br />monthly deficit of $2,000 per month for a 120-day period, begin- <br />ning May 1. An additional $1,000 was being requested to allow <br />Mr. Sorgenfri to seek advice of a consultant knowledgable in the <br />area of residential rental property management to review both <br />budget and operation of the Palace Hotel. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Robin Johnson, HCC, distributed to Council an accounting of all <br />revenue sharing monies the City had spent over the previous four <br />years. She said the recommendation from the JHC to the Council <br />related to the problems experienced by the Palace Hotel in the <br />past year regarding refurbishi~g the hotel and attracting permanent <br />occupants. She noted there had been a large financial investment <br />already made by the City and felt the City should seriously con- <br />sider exploration of alternatives to deal with the problem. The <br />Committee felt the Palace Hotel provides a low-income housing <br />resource that is very much needed in the community. She reiter- <br />ated the JHC's request from the Council [Dr the $9.000 expenditure, <br />noting that Mr. Sorgenfri has two applications in for grant funds. <br />She said he should be notified hy mid-summer whether either one <br />or both would be accepted.
