.
-..
IVlr. Pompel replied that the Gut Committee had been charged with a job and
it had been completed, and the committee had been disbanded. He noted a .
public hearing had been held by the Gut Committee and its recommendations
had been forwarded to the City Council for action. He said holding an-
other public hearing was not part of the original responsibility for the
Gut Committee, noting that the committee had done the job it had been
charged with.
Mr. Williams replied the staff task force had come back with some recom-
mendations that did not include what the committee had recommended, and
felt the Gut Commi ttee shoul d take a look at the staff response to see if
it wanted to make any further response to that task force recommendation.
Randi Bjornstad said the Council might take into consideration that the
items listed by the Gut Committee were merely suggested courses of action
for City Council to consider. She said there were no expectations that
all would be recommended by the task force.
Mayor Keller noteo another alternative for Council to consider would be
to simply accept the report. Mr. Delay said he felt the most appropriate
vehicle would be to mail out the staff recommendations and schedule a
pUblic hearing. That way the committee and public could consider staff
recommendations and their concerns could be heard publicly.
Mr. Williams withdrew his motion.
t~r. Obie noted the staff recommendations seemed practical and he did
not see a need for holding another public hearing, noting Council should -
either accept or reject the recommendations. Mr. Delay replied the rec-
ommendations were not from the committee but were staff proposals. He
felt Council should allow the people in the area to come before Council
with their input and opinions. Mr. Hradley concurred that City Council
should allow the people in the area an opportunity to address the Council
on the recommendations.
Ms. Smith movea, seconded by Mr. Hamel to accept the report
and schedule public hearing July 25. Motion carried unani-
mously with all Council members present voting aye except
Willimns and Obie voting no.
M~djO~e 22, lY77.
C es T.
