Staff was requesting action by Council for <br /> authorization to participate in the project. He said the initial cost <br />e estimate had been $326,000, of which the City's 20% portion would have <br /> been $72,000. However, when bids were received by the State, the low <br /> bid was $277.496, with an estimated total for the entire project to be <br /> $336,138. The City's 20% portion would then be $62,100, of which the <br /> City had prepaid $4,000. <br /> Mr. Allen explained the second lowest bid may have to be accepted by <br /> the State, as the low bidder had not been made aware of some conditions <br /> of the hidding, conditions regarding construction of the bridge in the <br /> river bed. Therefore, the City's amount might be about $64,900. <br /> Public hearing was held with no testimony presented. <br /> Mr. I-laws moved , seconded by Mr. /lame I , to authorize City staff to <br /> enter into agreement with the State Highway Department of Transportation <br /> for construction of the Valley River Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge in an <br /> amount not to exceed $64,900.
