INVESTING IN HEALTHY PEOPLE
FEDERAL PRIORITIES
We urge the Oregon delegation to support:
Increased funding for federally qualified health
centers (FQHCs) and programs that waive student
loans for health care professionals serving under-
represented regions.
Patient access to critical ground ambulance transport
services through ambulance relief. Medicare
ambulance relief is essential for our citizens, and we
request a long-term solution like the Medicare
Ambulance Access Preservation Act of 2011 (MAPPA).
Removing the cap on residency limits, the addition of
15,000 Medicare -funded residency positions, and
permanent funding for the Teaching Health Center
GME program.
Opportunities to increase our local food exports through
partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture
and the U.S. Economic Development Administration
within the U.S. Department of Commerce.
While the opioid related funding that was part of the
2016 21st Century Cures Act is critical to mitigating
this awful epidemic, the United Front partners believe
additional resources are needed to address this
ongoing problem.
Additional funding for NHTSA for drug recognition
expert training, and for research to help determine
impairement standards for driving under the influence
of marijuana.
HR 2345, the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act
of 2017. This measure would create a collaboration
between the FCC, SAMHSA, and the VA to examine the
efficacy of the current suicide prevention hotline.
