he cities of Eugene and Springfield, <br />and Lane County continue to work <br />purposefully and in partnership to <br />retain and attract businesses and investors <br />to create local family -wage jobs, support <br />economic and community growth, and add to <br />increasing vitality of our region. With almost <br />550 manufacturing companies, more than <br />430 technology firms, and a growing influx of <br />entrepreneurs in all industries, the region has <br />become one of the most desirable destinations for <br />traded -sector firms to grow. In 2015, the United <br />Front partners helped form the Pacific Northwest <br />Manufacturing Partnership (PNMP), and led the <br />effort that successfully earned them the Investing <br />in Manufacturing Communities Grant Designation <br />(IMCP) by the U.S. Department of Commerce, a <br />designation that remains in place and provides the <br />region with a platform of collaboration and focus. <br />In 2018 we will continue to utilize the IMCP <br />designation, now formally recognized by the <br />State of Oregon, and partnerships leveraged <br />with the innovative outcomes of related <br />project work, designs and ideas of regional <br />partnerships, university students and industry <br />experts, state and regional project and market <br />feasibility assessments, targeted and organized <br />high -output industry engagement, incorporation <br />of locally manufactured Advanced Materials <br />(Cross -Laminated Timber, CLT) in existing and <br />future regional priority project construction, <br />workforce development and on-the-job training, <br />transportation infrastructure, and technology <br />and telecommunications build -out within the <br />River Districts and throughout urban and rural <br />Lane County. These projects will increase access <br />to community resources and facilities, ranging <br />from our catalytic innovative parking structure, <br />
