<br /> M I NUT E S <br />e EUGENE CITY COUNCIL <br /> October 5, 1977 <br /> Adjourned meeting from September 28, 1977, .of the City Council of the City of <br /> Eugene, Oregon, was called to order by His Honor Gus Keller at 12:00 noon at <br /> King's Table, Oakway Mall, with the following Council members present: Eric <br /> Haws, D. W. Hamel, Ray Bradley, Jack Delay, Scott Lieuallen, and Betty <br /> Smith. Tom Williams and Brian Obie were absent. <br /> I. Items from Mayor and Ccuncil <br /> A. Dragging the Gut Experimental Program--Mr. Bradley questicned why <br /> the temporary barricade .on 24th Place had been remeved. Don Allen <br /> said it had been installed to record traffic counts. The intent is <br /> to replace it with a gate~which is in process now. <br /> B. League of Oregon Cities Task Force--Mr. Delay expressed interest <br /> in serving .on the Energy Task Force and wondered if City wculd <br /> reimburse expenses. City Manager replied it would. <br /> C. Department of Ccmmerce Economic Development Brochure--Mr. Delay ex- <br /> pressed thanks for receiving the brechure and requested information <br /> regarding two statements: 1) the program very definitely has a <br /> multi-county orientation; and 2) the definitien .of a grcwth center <br /> as a necessity which ccntrasts with the satellite concept. John Porter <br />e will relay those concerns to Ed Whitelaw fer discussion October 19. <br /> D. Tree Preservation Committee--Mayer is in process .of making selection <br /> and will present final committee membership October 12. <br /> E. Council Assistance--Memc distributed to Council. Manager noted <br /> this outlined dates for steps in the process, with jOb descriptions <br /> hopefully to be presented next week. Council would be asked for <br /> input at that time. <br /> F. Southwestern Oregon American Institute .of Architects Special Award-- <br /> Manager presented to Mayor, on behalf .of the City, the award recog- <br /> nizing the City of Eugene for its role in develeping and continuing <br /> to refine Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area 1990 General Plan. <br /> G. Neighberhood Organizatien Report--Manager called to Council's atten- <br /> tion the repert which summarizes activities and accomplishments te <br /> date. He noted this would be a chance for evaluating the neighbcr- <br /> hood organizations. <br /> H. League .of Oregon Cities Ccnference--Infcrmation distributed to <br /> Council. Manager asked Council to cemplete the forms indicating <br /> desired participation in various events. He noted the difference <br /> in cost of $15 for one day's attendance as oppesed tc $25 for <br /> attendance for three days. He requested hotel preferences and <br />e request forms be executed and turned in to the Manager's office as <br /> soon as possible. <br /> 10/5/77--1 <br /> /54 <br />
