<br />In their community education program, staff has conducted work- <br />shops for the Whiteaker and East Skinner Butte neighborhoods, and ~ <br />neighborhood organization volunteers have taken inventory of ~ <br />the Whiteaker, Wests ide, and West University neighborhoods. <br />Recently, in conjunction with the Downtown Development Board, <br />ERA, and the State Historic Preservation Office, they have <br />offered workshops entitled IIProfit Potential in Old Buildings.1I <br />They produced three publications with a fourth one under way. In <br />the last three years, during Historic Preservation Week, they <br />have tried to increase public awareness of the City's preservation <br />program with information booths, special publications, film <br />festivals, etc. They have worked with other groups, such as the <br />Junior League, Springfield Historic Commission, Lane County <br />Museum, and School of Architecture and Allied Arts. They have <br />also had input into the Metropolitan Plan Update. Mr. Muller <br />distributed a questionnaire for the City Council. He thanked the <br />councilors for their support. <br /> <br />Mr. Obie stated that EWEB is in the process of acqulrlng property <br />adjacent to them, west of the Ferry Street Bridge, which some <br />people refer to as the wool or flour mill. He asked if there had <br />been any plan to consider this as a historic landmark. Judy <br />Rees, HCC, said that the Eugene Mill and Elevator was a flour <br />elevator and would be considered at the board's May 29 meeting. <br /> <br />Councilor Lieuallen arrived at the meeting. <br /> <br />6. Special Council Meeting <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Henry reminded councilors of the special City Council meeting <br />at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 1980. This meeting will be held to <br />discuss the ordinance and resolutions for the June 24 election. <br /> <br />7. Metro Plan Update Information <br /> <br />Ms. Smith asked when public hearings would be 'held on the Metro- <br />politan Plan Update. Mr. Henry responded that every Wednesday <br />the councilors would be having a work session from 1 to 2 p.m. <br />following the Wednesday council meeting, until the end of <br />June. Mr. Farah stated that three public hearings would be held: <br />in Eugene, on May 29, at 7:30 p.m.~ in Springfield, on May 31, <br />from 9:30 a.m. to noon; and on May 31, lane County will be <br />holding a hearing from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mayor Keller noted that <br />the joint meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on June 17 involving <br />all three jurisdictions. <br /> <br />8. Condominium Task Force <br /> <br />Councilor Delay indicated that a meeting of the Condominium Task <br />Force would be held on Monday at 8:30 a.m. They will discuss the <br />need to extend the moratorium. Mr. Henry indicated that the first <br />reading of the ordinance would be given May 28; a public hearing <br />and second read i ng wi 11 be held on June 9. . <br /> <br />5/14/80--2 <br />
