.

-

.

Mayor Keller stated that he would like to thank the councilors for taking on
additional tasks.

Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously.

D. Announcements

Mr. Gleason stated that the Legislative Subcommittee will meet Thursday and
the Budget Committee will meet Thursday evening in the McNutt Room.

II. ROUTINE ITEMS FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL

A. Approval of Council Minutes of Special and Regular Meetings of
December 3, 1980, Regular Meeting of December 8, 1980, and Special
Meeting of December 10, 1980

Ms. Miller moved, seconded by Mr. Obie, to approve council minutes
of December 3, 1980, both special and regular meetings, December 8,
1980, and special meeting of December 10, 1980. Roll call vote;
motion carried unanimously.

B.

Segregation of Assessment Located-at 366 East 40th Avenue; Applicant:
Breeden Brothers, Inc., J. S. Sorensen (SE 80-11)

Ms. Miller moved, seconded by Mr. Obie, to approve the segregation
of assessment as noted. Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously.

c.

Ordinance Establishing Fares for City-operated Shuttle Bus (memo and
ordinance distributed)

Ms. Wooten asked if the fares for the shuttle bus would cover the entire
cost of operation. Don Allen, Public Works, stated that some funds were left
from the original appropriation and the fares would supplement the cost.
Ms. Wooten asked how far the $16,000 would go. Elaine Stewart, Public Works,
stated that the $16,000, plus a fee of $10 per user, will allow operation until
June. Ms. Wooten asked what would happen then. Ms. Stewart responded that this
program will end in June. Ms. Miller asked about current ridership figures.
Ms. Stewart stated that there were 100-125 riders per day last week. Figures
are down because of vacations, according to the Dorsey Bus Company. Ms. Stewart
said that previously there were 200 riders a day in November.

Mr. Obie stated he had voted against using the $16,000 to extend the shuttle
program before and would vote against it again today. This is avoiding the
inevitable and unwisely spending the community's money. Ms. Miller noted that
she would vote for the motion. LTD is expecting to have their Park-N-Ride
system in place and she hopes that some shuttle riders will use that system. If
there is a gap between the systems, it will be harder to convince people not to
drive their cars into the downtown area.

MINUTES--Eugene City Council

January 14, 1981

Page 3
