<br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />City Council Chamber <br /> <br />February 11, 1981 <br />11:30 a.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Gretchen Miller, Srian Obie, Betty Smith, Mark Lindberg, <br />D. W. Hamel, Eric Haws, Emily Schue, and Cynthia Wooten. <br /> <br />Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called <br />to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> <br />I. ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> <br />A. Announcements <br /> <br />1. Presentation to City Council by Student Council at Willard Com- <br />munity School <br /> <br />Mayor Keller indicated that four students from Willard Community School are <br />present to make a presentation to the council. <br /> <br />Ruth Palmer, Room 10, Willard Community School, stated that she is a member of <br />4It the Student Council. She read a poem to the council. <br /> <br />Jennifer Gull stated that they are selling a book of poetry to earn money for <br />after-school activities such as Student Council. She also read a poem. <br /> <br />Tim Conway stated that he had started writing poems after their school had <br />had a poet come to their school for three weeks. <br /> <br />Sarah Vickland, stated that "Rainbows 81" is the name of the publication they <br />are selling. She noted that the City has helped make their school a community <br />school and they would like for everyone to have one of their books. Copies <br />of "Rainbows 81" were distributed to the Mayor and the council. <br /> <br />B. Weatherization Information <br /> <br />Councilor Wooten stated that after the hearing on February 9 regarding weatheri- <br />zation, she had some concerns about the vulnerability of the elderly. She <br />would like to see included in the EWEB monthly bills a summary of the ordinance <br />as well as a warning to have EWEB inspect homes for assistance in the determina- <br />tion of what should or should not be done to implement provisions of the ordi- <br />nance, prior to proceeding with weatherization, as well as have warnings regard- <br />ing the possibility of dealing with contractors that are less than scrupulous. <br />Mr. Gleason stated that Greg Page, Technology Coordinator, has contacted EWEB <br />and that this will occur. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council <br /> <br />February 11, 1981 <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
