ACQUISITION OF TELEPROMPTER BY WESTINGHOUSE (memo, resolution distributed) <br /> <br />Mr. Gleason stated that this item is before the council for consent of sale of <br />Teleprompter to Westinghouse. He introduced Stan long, City Attorney. <br /> <br />Mr. Long stated that on January 26, 1981, Teleprompter requested that the <br />council approve acquisition of their system by Westinghouse Broadcasting <br />Company, Inc. The franchise agreement provides that the City has the ability <br />to consent or authorize the Metropolitan Area Cable Television/Translator <br />Commission to inquire into qualifications of potential franchisees. They <br />have requested approval and staff has reviewed this and recommends approval. <br /> <br />Res. No. 3474--A resolution consenting to Westinghouse Broadcasting <br />Company, Inc., acquiring control of Teleprompter <br />Corporation. <br /> <br />Mr. Obie moved, seconded by Mr. Hamel, to adopt the resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Keller asked if the new company would be bound by the same negotiations <br />and contractual agreements. Mr. Lindberg asked if this is part of a national <br />acquisition. Mr. long responded that both of these were correct.
