ROUTINE ITEMS FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL

A. Approval of City Council Minutes of April 27, 1981, and Legislative
Subcommittee Minutes of April 29, 1981, and May 13, 1981

Ms. Smith moved, seconded by Mr. Hamel, to approve City Council
minutes of April 27, 1981, and Legislative Subcommittee minutes of
April 29, 1981, and May 13, 1981.

e

Ms. Miller commented on the minutes of the Legislative Subcommittee. She had
some concerns about taking a position in opposition to Senate Bill 79 which
provides that the interest on a judgment be paid from the date of the cause of
action rather than from the date of the judgment. Ms. Miller said that she
could understand that the City, as an entity which might be sued, would prefer
that the law remain as currently written, but she felt that the proposed change
may be in the interest of citizens who might be wronged. Ms. Miller pointed out
that there was also the possibility that the City could be the plaintiff in such
a case. She felt uncomfortable with having the City take any position on this
bill and suggested that no position be taken.

Ms. Smith was satisfied with this suggestion. Mr. Gleason agreed to not take a
position at this time but to return to the councilor the task force if staff
felt a position should be taken at a later date. Ms. Schue agreed with this.
Consensus was to not take a position on Senate Bill 79 at this time.

Roll call vote. Motion carried unanimously.

B.
