Councilor Bettman, seconded by Councilor Taylor, moved a substitute <br /> amendment to restore full funding, ($14,000), to community arts grants from <br /> the Reserve for Revenue Shortfall. <br /> <br />Councilor Bettman said community arts grants benefitted many different kinds of youth activities. <br />She noted there was a big allocation to athletics and said the motion was an opportunity to <br />allocate funding to other areas. She also said Community Television was located in a local high <br />school and provided lots of benefits for people other than students. <br /> <br />Councilor Taylor reiterated the comments of Councilor Bettman. <br /> <br /> Roll call vote; the substitute amendment failed, 5:3, with Councilors Meisner, <br /> Pap~, Nathanson, Poling, and Solomon voting in opposition. <br /> <br /> Roll call vote; the amendment vote resulted in a 4:4 tie, with councilors <br /> Poling, Taylor, Bettman, and Kelly voting in opposition, and councilors <br /> Nathanson, Meisner, Solomon, and Pap~ voting in support. Mayor Torrey <br /> cast a vote in favor of the amendment, and it passed on a final vote of 5:4. <br /> <br /> Councilor Taylor, moved to restore full funding to the Citizen Involvement <br /> Committee. She said the settlement would come from Systems Development Charge, (SDC), funds <br />and noted that there was nothing in the project goals that talked about adding capacity.
