<br /> <br /> Independent Police Auditor’s Office -- 2017 Annual Report 6 <br /> <br /> <br />Latinx community members gather as City of Eugene departments <br />answer questions and share information about the services they provide <br />during our first Public Safety Forum. <br />Successful Community Outreach Efforts <br /> <br />We continued with our efforts to reach marginalized sectors in our community by actively <br />participating in community events and meetings. Below are just some of the outreach efforts that <br />took place in 2017 which our office participated in: <br /> <br />Implementation of Anonymous Survey <br /> Community Satisfaction of Local Law Enforcement survey was dispersed online throughout <br />several platforms. We received over 300 responses from community members. <br />Public Safety Forum <br /> In partnership with the 4J School District, our office held a Spanish forum with participation <br />from 5 City of Eugene departments and over 15 local nonprofits. We provided community <br />members an opportunity to share their experiences, voice any concerns, and learn about <br />several services the City of Eugene provides. <br />Police Chief Outreach to Latinx community <br /> Held discussions regarding the most important qualities the Latinx community wishes to see in <br />the next police chief. This was a unique opportunity to hear from a growing sector in our <br />community <br />Public Participation in Diverse Communities panel member <br /> Shared insight to University of Oregon students about working in city government while <br />addressing specific sectors of the community <br />Neighborhood Association meetings <br /> Continued our efforts of reaching out to multiple associations and providing insight about our <br />office practices, procedures, and limitations <br />Presentations to local non-profits <br /> Continued reaching out to local agencies in both Eugene and Springfield to provide staff the <br />necessary information about our office’s duties and limitations to forward to the clients they <br />directly serve <br />Tabling at local events including: <br /> 2017 Posada Latina <br /> Noche Cultural <br /> SHS Latino Family Night <br /> Mobile Mexican Consulate <br /> River Road Elementary Social <br /> MECHA graduation <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />September 24, 2018, Work Session – Item 2
