Exhibit B
Findings of Consistency with
Street Name Change Criteria
Section 9.8485 of the Eugene Code (EC) provides the sole criterion for evaluating a proposed
street name change, stating:
EC 9.8485 Street Name Change Approval Criteria. The planning commission shall
recommend, and the city council shall approve an application for a street name
change upon determining that a proposed renaming is in the best interest of the city.
Based on the Planning Commission's recommendation, the records of the public hearings
before both the Planning Commission and the City Council, the City Council finds that it is in the
best interest of the City to change the name of the approximately 236 -foot unimproved section
of Suzanne Way located north of Crescent Avenue within the City of Eugene.
The City Council finds that the proposed name change will minimize inconvenience and
confusion and improve the ability of motorists, bicyclists, and transit users to easily identify
Tennyson Avenue, and emergency response will be improved for future residents, businesses,
and the general public located on Tennyson Avenue.
The City Council further finds that based on street name changes that have occurred in the
past, service providers like 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center and the U.S. Post Office
can make the necessary changes in their database systems with 30 days prior notice. Since no
addresses are assigned to this portion of Suzanne Way, no adverse impacts are anticipated with
the proposed street name change.
{00289463;11
