2018 Eugene- Springfield Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report 7 <br /> <br /> <br />Promote Economic Development and Employment Opportunities <br />through the Creation of Jobs and Business Development <br />Significant progress was made in Eugene’s economic development activities as described below. <br /> <br />Eugene Business Development Fund/Emerging Business Loan Program <br />Eugene continued to operate its Business Development Fund, and provided four loans totaling $887,500, <br />which are projected to result in the creation of twenty three jobs for low‐income people to the following local <br />businesses: Elegant Elephant Baking Corporation, Fire & Rod, LLC dba The Wheel Apizza Pub, WildCraft Cider <br />Works, Inc., and Shelton‐Turnbull Printers, Inc. Additionally, there are applications totaling $895,000 in <br />underwriting which if approved, will fund in FY 2019. <br /> <br />Microenterprise Training <br />Eugene Microenterprise Training – NEDCO was selected through an open request for proposals in May of <br />2015 to conduct Microenterprise Training on behalf of the City of Eugene. Sixty people who are either <br />business owners or seeking to start a business were trained. <br /> <br />Springfield Microenterprise Training – During this reporting period, Springfield did not allocate funds to this <br />program. <br /> <br />Make Strategic Investments to Improve Low-Income Neighborhoods <br />and Other Areas Exhibiting Conditions of Slums and Blight <br />The Cities of Eugene and Springfield did not allocate funds to support this strategy during this reporting period. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Wheel Apizza Pub, New Haven Style Pizza <br /> <br />Elegant Elephant Baking Co, a Gluten-Free Bakery <br />October 10, 2018, Joint City-County Work Session – Item 1
