Good budget work this year. FY07 will be critical regarding Council's adopted strategic <br />issues. <br /> <br />5. This is an ongoing challenge. I suspect sometimes the info is clear internally, but isn't <br />disseminated to the media in a way that minimizes rumor and misconceptions. <br /> <br />Dennis is very clear on the issues regarding budget management. He is very clear on the way <br />Budget Committee and City Council decisions impact the bottom line. <br /> <br />Additional Comments: <br /> <br />This all seems to be handled really well. <br /> <br />By the time the Council and Budget Committee completed the Budget Process the Budget <br />reflected Council priorities for the Community which focuses primarily on Public Safety. I <br />appreciate that the Manager's proposed budget fully funded our contribution to the Human <br />Services Commission and some other baseline services that we have had to defend in past years. <br />So all things considered the process had its positives and negatives. We tend to budget <br />conservatively and I am supportive of that approach. <br /> <br /> The one financial criticism I would levy is that the Manager has a tendency to claim there is no <br /> money for a council action he does not support but when staff wants to pursue something they <br /> <br /> 17 <br /> <br /> <br />
