<br />November 19, 2018, Work Session – Item 1 <br /> <br />FY19 Work Plan Summary The FY19 Work Plan includes five overarching topics areas: <br />1) City Council Engagement. The Commission will explore ways to increase engagement with City Council. <br />2) Climate Change Policy. The Commission plans to explore and/or contribute to CAP2.0 outreach and policy, waste reduction policy, the Transportation System Plan implementation, biophilic design, neighborhood preparedness, and natural gas policy. <br />3) FY18 Follow-Up of Proposals Sent to City Council. The Commission plans to follow up on all items sent to City Council in FY18 that City Council has not taken action on. <br />4) Monitor. The Commission will monitor Envision Eugene and efforts to address Eugene’s housing crisis. The Commission will provide input as opportunities emerge. <br />5) Emerging Issues. This item gives the Commission the flexibility to address unforeseen, but important sustainability-related items presented by the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, Commissioners or the public. <br />Triple Bottom Line Process The Commission developed its FY19 Work Plan as part of its August 2019 Retreat. The Retreat included a robust discussion about the Commission’s Mission statement, which calls on the Commission to consider the Triple Bottom Line in all matters. In addition, the Commission includes a brief Triple Bottom Line Analysis on all proposals it sends to City Council for consideration. <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES None. <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS 1. Approve the FY19 Work Plan. 2. Approve the FY19 Work Plan with amendments. 3. Ask the Commission to revise its FY19 Work Plan and return on a later date. 4. Not approve the FY19 Work Plan. <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION The City Manager recommends approval the FY19 Sustainability Commission Work Plan. <br />SUGGESTED MOTION Move to approve the FY19 Sustainability Commission Work Plan.
