ACTION: Approval of Resources for Housing Affordable to Low-Income Persons <br /> Housing Finance Analyst Ellen Meyi-Galloway and Housing Opportunities Team Manager Stephanie Jennings introduced the topic and presented information about the approval process. <br /> Council Discussion <br />• Working to lower the costs associated with development will result in more units of affordable housing. <br />• Concerns expressed about the ecological impacts of the proposed development on River Road; support continued efforts to mitigate the impacts on neighboring properties and residents. <br />• Outreach to community was thorough; project enjoys general support. <br />• Support expressed for less regimented approach to the development of affordable housing; look at more innovative alternatives and opportunities for collaboration. <br /> <br />MOTION AND VOTE: Councilor Taylor, seconded by Councilor Semple, moved to award the property at 1505-1525 River Road and approve use of $725,000 in HOME funds for the construction of River Road Affordable Housing as proposed by St. Vincent de Paul. <br />PASSED 8:0 <br /> <br />February 11, 2019, Meeting - Item 2A
