This reduction has been applied to nodal development areas identified <br />in the Draft TransPlan <br /> <br />Transportation Demand I~a~agement (TDI~) <br />In a period from 1994 through 1996, LCOG conducted a study and analysis of the potential for TDM <br />in the Eugene-Springfield Area. There were a number of reports and studies published related to this <br />effort. This section attempts to report the findings in an incremental presentation format concluding <br />with the maximum benefit in VMT reduction associated with publicly acceptable TDM strategies. <br /> <br />TDM is relatively inexpensive and can be implemented ~n the short term to help postpone the need <br />for more extensive investments. LCOG facilitated a task force to prioritize preferences of TDM <br />strategies and identify opportunities for application of these preferences for additional evaluation. <br />TDM Task Force evaluated and prioritized strategies into three groupings; high preference, medium <br />preference~ and Iow preference. The Task Force Final Report records the following listing priorities <br />b~sed on appropriateness <br /> <br />* ~reference l~st- Family car incentive, marketing/public education, Bike/Ped Policy, <br /> rideshare matching (voluntary program), transportation allowance, group transk pass (voluntary <br /> program), parking management, employee transportation coordinator~ special event TDM <br /> programs/plans, transit use subsidy (voluntary program), special user fees, and insurance pricing <br /> at the pump. <br /> <br /> Medium preference list - networking groups, park and ride lots, trip reduction ordinances, and <br /> shuttle services. <br /> <br />Low preference list - voluntary no-drive days, high occupancy vehicle lanes, special taxes, and <br />congestion pricing. <br /> <br />Home based work trips account for a relatively small percentage of total trips.
