<br /> <br />ATTACHMENT A <br />Attachment A - City Manager Evaluation Discussion <br />Council Meeting - September 17, 2008 <br /> <br />Dimensions <br />Goal: Identify some vital few dimensions that define Council desires for <br />where the City Manager will focus. <br /> <br />Based on key responsibility areas stated in the City Manager job description <br />the following are recommendations for the dimensions. <br /> <br />Policy <br />Support elected officials to work towards, and achieve common goals and <br />facilitation and <br />objectives for effective policies to support City government. <br />implementation <br /> <br />Financial <br />Prepares and submits the annual budget and capital projects to the Mayor and <br />Management <br />City Council. Directs ongoing analysis of the City’s financial affairs, <br />ensuring financial stability to meet current and future needs. <br /> <br />Community <br />Focuses on creating effective relationships with citizens, leaders and partners <br />Leadership <br />throughout the community. Utilizes these relationships for strategic <br />partnerships, identification of citizen needs and guiding effective service <br />delivery for the City of Eugene. <br /> <br />Organizational <br />Leads the City of Eugene organization to accomplish service delivery goals <br />Leadership <br />through the implementation of effective staff and City service operations. <br /> <br />Potential Process Components <br /> <br />For the actual evaluation process, some potential components are: <br /> <br /> <br />?City Manager self evaluation <br /> <br />?Feedback requested from <br /> <br />Community members and peers <br />o <br /> <br />Executive Leaders at the City of Eugene <br />o <br /> <br />Union Leadership <br />o <br /> <br />Randomly selected employees <br />o <br /> <br />?City Councilors each fill out a form based on their review of the <br />feedback and their own observations. <br /> <br />?Feedback is compiled into a single document <br /> <br />?Evaluation meeting is conducted between the City Manager and the <br />Council <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
