<br />April 17, 2019, Work Session – Item 2 <br /> <br />PREVIOUS COUNCIL DIRECTION <br />January 9, 2019, City Council Work Session <br />Councilors expressed general support for keeping the delineation of the council’s three employees <br />as clear as possible; pursuing a salaried model, rather than contracted employee; and involving <br />the entire council in a discussion about the parameters, qualifications, and process for hiring a <br />new judge. <br />January 28, 2019, City Council Work Session <br />Councilors reiterated their support for transitioning to a salaried model for the Municipal Court <br />Presiding Judge and for pursuing a direct‐appoint of Judge Greg Gill. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilor Clark, seconded by Councilor Syrett, moved to direct the City Manager to <br />1) bring back the proposed code language in the AIS, Attachment A to a public hearing to make <br />the City Judge a council employee and 2) to schedule as soon as practicable an interview with <br />Judge Gill to consider the possibility of direct appointment of him. PASSED 7:1, Councilor <br />Taylor opposed. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />The following are options for City Council consideration and will be detailed during the work <br />session. <br />1. Approve the job description and related salary as an average of wages presented. <br />2. Modify the job description and related salary. <br />3.
