I have learned about the importance of human rights work through advocacy on human rights access <br />and profiling issues. <br />1 How has your employment and/or volunteer experience prepared you to do the work of a Human Rights <br />Commissioner? Please be specific. <br />I have worked on elected advisory bodies before and can take on projects within such a body and be <br />productive towards the initiatives of that body. <br />2 How has your personal experience prepared you to do the work of a Human Rights Commissioner? Please <br />be specific. <br />Racial profiling by police; police brutality against the poor; lack of oversight over the local health <br />systems; health system criminalizing illness, disability, and poverty. <br />3 What do you see as the three most pressing human rights issues in Eugene? Select the most important and <br />explain why. <br />I am a mediator with a great capacity to listen and learn, which overcomes all weaknesses of the sort you <br />are addressing here. <br />4 Describe your specific strengths and weaknesses that would allow you to negotiate group situations in which <br />members hold strong, differing opinions.
