MINUTES

Eugene City Council
Boards, Commission, and Committees Interviews
McNutt Room--City Hall

January 18, 2001
5:30 p.m.

COUNCILORS PRESENT: Betty Taylor, Scott Meisner, David Kelly, Gary Pap~.
COUNCILORS ABSENT: Nancy Nathanson, Pat Fart, Gary Rayor, Bonny Bettman.

BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEE INTERVIEWS

Councilors interviewed the following applicants for a position on the Budget Committee: John
Prevedello, Samuel Frear, Jerry Drucks, and Eric Forrest.

Each applicant was asked the following questions:
1. Why do you want to be on the Budget Committee?

2. What skills do you bring to this committee?

3. This position is for a three-year term, ending October 31, 2003. The Budget Committee meets
frequently throughout the year, most heavily in April and May. Committee members also receive
substantial mailings of detailed information to digest prior to each meeting, and must also read
and be familiar with the information contained in the proposed budget document. The full Budget
Committee meets in the evenings; however, the citizen members may also hold meetings during
the middle of the day, typically from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

4. In your estimation, what are the financial challenges facing the City?

5. Do you have any questions of us?

The interview session adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,

James R. Johnson
City Manager

(Recorded by Kimberly Young)

MINUTES--Eugene City Council January 18, 2001 Page 1
Boards, Commissions, Committee Interviews
