3 <br />Where: <br />Q = quantity (acres of parks, miles of trails, or number of recreation facilities) and <br />Future Population Served = projected 20-year growth in system-wide equivalent population <br />The planned LOS forms the basis for determining capacity needs for parks and recreation <br />facilities. The capacity requirements of future growth are determined by multiplying the <br />planned LOS for each park and facility type by the projected growth in population for the <br />planning period. The Survey indicated that park use attributable to nonresidential land uses (including <br />overnight visitor accommodations) ranged from 13.6 percent to 31.1 percent of total park use, <br />depending on the specific factors considered.
