MINUTES <br /> <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Boards and Commissions Interviews <br /> McNutt Room, City Hall--Eugene, Oregon <br /> <br /> November 15, 2000 <br /> 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Betty Taylor, David Kelly, Gary Pap~, Gary Rayor, Bonny Bettman. <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Nancy Nathanson, Pat Farr, Scott Meisner. <br /> <br />BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS INTERVIEW <br /> <br />The following applicant was invited to interview for appointment to the Planning Commission: <br /> <br /> Kevin Matthews <br /> <br />Ms. Taylor welcomed Mr. Matthews to his scheduled interview. She explained that each <br />interview would last 15 minutes and councilors would ask each candidate the same questions. <br />She indicated that absent members of the council would have tape recordings of the interviews <br />and copies of candidates' applications made available to them and the council would make its <br />decision the following week. <br /> <br />Councilors posed the following questions to Mr. Matthews: <br /> <br />1 .Why did you apply for the Planning Commission and what do you hope to contribute? <br /> <br />2.A) In your opinion, which issues should be given highest priority by the Planning Commission <br /> over the next four years? <br /> B) Which of these do you consider to be the most important issue, and why? <br /> <br />3,The Planning Commission must often balance competing interests when developing planning <br /> documents and making land use decisions. In your opinion, what are the most important <br /> factors for the Planning Commission to consider in its decision making? <br /> <br />4.Please share your views on how the Planning Commission can foster community involvement <br /> as a whole, in long-range planning projects. <br /> <br />5.Briefly, what is your top strategy for increasing density within the UGB?
