Councilor Clark thanked Drix for his testimony, as well as the others who had testified. He added that the
vote on the resolution would not be unanimous as he was not persuaded that the council should take action
on a national matter. He especially wanted to thank the people who testified who had served in the armed
forces or who had family members who had done so.

Councilor Zelenka thanked the people who testified. He said as a former member of the United States Air
Force he honored the troops and their sacrifice. He had helped to craft the resolution. He averred that the
war was based on lies. He had been moved by the white flag display at the University of Oregon campus.
He believed that the United States was embroiled in a civil war with no end in sight. He thought it was time
to stand up and ask for an end of the war in order to start rebuilding the destruction. He commended the
patriotism that was embodied by dissent.

Mayor Piercy thanked everyone for coming. She commented that having people in the community speak up
on what they felt was important and right honored the community.

2. CONSENT CALENDAR

A.
