This input will serve as the core of recommendations to the <br />City Council for how the City can best assist this population. <br />2006 Eugene provided one-time funds for homelessness prevention, transportation assistance and to <br />increase hours at two access centers. <br />Current Status: Funding was renewed in 2007. <br />2007 Council adopted goal of Helping the Homeless as one of 10 goals. <br /> Current Status: Staff preparing revised action plan for Council approval. <br />th <br />Project Homeless Connect took place on February 8 and provided assistance to 1007 homeless <br />people. <br />Current Status: An intergovernmental and community wide team has started planning for the <br />2008 event. <br /> Mayor Piercy appointed a 21 member “Blue Ribbon Committee” to develop recommendations for a <br />stable, sustainable funding source to address homelessness.. <br />Current Status: The committee will be meeting throughout 2007. <br /> <br /> <br />Monitoring and Evaluation <br />C. <br /> <br />The Mayor and City Council will be briefed on the progress of the approved options quarterly via a <br />reporting mechanism established by the City Manager. <br /> L:\CMO\2007 Council Agendas\M070625\S070625B.DOC <br />
