Eugene -Springfield Area Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan <br />2. Hazard Descriptions <br />Major winter storms affecting the Willamette Valley occurred in 1884, 1892, 1909, <br />1916, 1919, 1937, 1950, 1969, 1989, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, <br />2016, and 2019. January 1950 snowfalls were especially high, with 54" in Albany <br />and 36" in Eugene. In January 1969, Eugene received 47" of snow. hi December <br />2008, January 2012, February 2014, December 2016, and February 2019 significant <br />snow and ice disrupted electrical service and transportation systems throughout the <br />Willamette Valley.
