2020 Eugene Wastewater Master Plan Chapter 5: Rehab of Existing Systems 41 <br />Chemical grout sealing performs best <br />in deep lines with elevated ground <br />water conditions that do not allow <br />the grout to dry out. It is the least <br />costly rehab method but does not <br />provide any structural improvement <br />to the pipeline. This method of rehab <br />is best utilized for portions of the <br />system difficult to access by other <br />means, and costs vary significantly <br />based on depth, size and the number <br />of locations included in the contract. <br />Table 5-2 shows the estimated unit <br />cost for the primary method of <br />construction, cured-in-place pipe, (or <br />CIPP). This method of rehabilitation <br />not only provides a continuous, <br />unjointed segment of pipe between <br />manholes, but it performs as a <br />structural improvement to the host <br />pipe. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Public Lateral Rehabilitation Costs <br />Public laterals extend from the wastewater main to the property line. The primary method used to <br />rehabilitate laterals in Eugene is CIPP lining. At 2019 prices, an average lateral (length 30 feet) costs about <br />$4,500 to CIPP line, which includes engineering costs. <br />Manhole Rehabilitation Costs <br />Manholes are generally constructed with concrete and are therefore a potential source of <br />inflow/infiltration as they age. The primary method used to rehabilitate manholes and restore their <br />ability to protect against infiltration is grout sealing. At 2019 prices, sealing a manhole costs $225/vertical <br />foot and costs $500 to seal the channel. <br />Long-Range Rehabilitation Planning <br />As of 2019 there were approximately 717 miles of public wastewater lines.
