INVENTORY OF EXISTING CONDITIONS <br />help create or enhance sustainability within the community. The Commission’s fiscal year 2016 work plan <br />consists of goals under the following topics: <br />»“Land use and transportation. Link Envision Eugene with the Transportation System Plan and <br />other land use and transportation decisions, in policies and practice; <br />»Climate change mitigation and resilience. Promote and support investments and polices that help <br />mitigate adverse effects of climate change and natural disasters and increase resiliency to those <br />impacts which can’t be mitigated; <br />»Envision Eugene. Link Envision Eugene with Climate Recovery Ordinance Goals and Sustainability; <br />and <br />»Sustainable economic development. Promote Sustainable Economic Development within Eugene <br />49 <br />and throughout the surrounding areas.” <br /> <br />Over the last five years, the Airport has taken steps toward becoming more sustainable. In 2010, the <br />® <br />Airport received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green <br />50® <br />Building Council for an air cargo building. This building represents the first City of Eugene LEED <br />® <br />building. Additionally, in 2011, the Airport received LEED Silver certification for the Aircraft Rescue and <br />51® <br />Fire Fighting (ARFF) building. Some LEEDcertification elements of the buildings include, but are not <br />limited to: <br />»90 percent of construction debris was either re-used or recycled; <br />»The new building contained more than 25 percent recycled building materials; <br />»Design and construction of the building included a 17 percent reduction in energy use; <br />»A reduction in water consumption by 35 percent; and <br />»High-efficiency heating and cooling systems to reduce energy consumption. <br /> <br />The Airport is committed to implementing sustainability initiatives during its development projects and <br />normal operations.
