MINUTES <br /> <br /> Eugene City Council <br /> Council Chamber--City Hall <br /> <br /> Januaw 15,1998 <br /> 6 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Pat Farr, Scott Meisner, Bobby Lee, Betty Taylor. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Laurie Swanson Gribskov, Nancy Nathanson, Tim Laue, Ken <br /> Tollenaar. <br /> <br />The January 15, 1997, meeting of the Eugene City Council was called to order at 6 p.m.; Council <br />President Pat Farr presiding. <br /> <br /> I. TOXICS BOARD INTERVIEWS <br /> <br />The council welcomed Madrona Holden and asked her the following questions and follow-up <br />questions: <br /> <br /> 1. Please explain your knowledge of Federal, State, and local right-to-know laws in <br /> general; and, please explain your knowledge and understanding of Eugene's right- <br /> to-know law. <br /> <br /> Follow-up question from Mr. Meisner: Can you talk more about how you teach <br /> your students to be effective advocates on their own. <br /> <br /> 2. How would you work to resolve differences of opinion as a board member, given <br /> that there may be persons on the board whose views are in direct opposition to <br /> yours? <br /> <br /> Follow-up question from Mr. Fart: Have you been on any boards or committees or <br /> groups where you have found yourself in direct opposition to another member? <br /> <br /> 3. Please discuss your understanding of materials accounting, and your ability to <br /> understand the use of toxic substances by manufacturers. <br /> <br /> Follow-up question from Ms. Taylor: In what ways does the Toxics Right-to-Know <br /> law matter? <br /> <br /> 4.
