ATTACHMENT H <br /> <br />M I N U T E S <br /> <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />Boards, Commissions, and Committees Interviews <br />McNutt Room—Eugene City Hall <br />777 Pearl Street—Eugene, Oregon <br /> <br /> October 14, 2008 <br /> 6:15 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Betty Taylor, Jennifer Solomon, Andrea Ortiz, Mike Clark, George <br />Poling, Alan Zelenka. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Chris Pryor, Bonny Bettman. <br /> <br /> <br />In the absence of Council President Pryor, senior Councilor Betty Taylor called the meeting of the <br />Eugene City Council to order. <br /> <br />The candidates for the Planning Commission included Randy Hledik, Sarah Whitney, Mark Baker, <br />Brian Kurz, and Jeffrey Mills. Each candidate was asked the following questions: <br /> <br />1. Why did you apply for the Planning Commission and what do you hope to contribute? <br /> <br />2. What key issues would you hope to address as a member of the Planning Commission? <br /> <br />3. The Eugene Planning Commission often works on lengthy processes and decisions as a <br />group. Describe your prior skills and experience that will assist you in working with the <br />Planning Commission in a collective manner. <br /> <br />4. Please describe how you would contribute to the diversity of views on the Planning Com- <br />mission. In what ways would you seek to bring the perspectives of under-represented <br />members of our community to the Planning Commission? <br /> <br />5. The Planning Commission must often balance competing interests when reviewing plan- <br />ning documents and making land use decisions. In your opinion, what are the most impor- <br />tant factors for the Planning Commission to consider in its decisionmaking? <br />- <br /> <br />Mr. Zelenka arrived during Mr. Hledik’s interview and left after the Planning Commission <br />interviews were concluded. Ms. Solomon left after the Planning Commission interviews were <br />concluded. <br /> <br />Candidates interviewed for vacancies on the Human Rights Commission included Robert Adler, <br />Jairus Godeka, Rosa Chavez, and Keevan Labowitz.
